Elie Manor
Lionel Bouchard put his name on the waiting list in 2002 to support expansion of several rooms to the complex in Elie. In 2010, Lionel Bouchard was #1 on the list having passed up vacancies while living in B.C. with his daughter pending the outcome of his Life Estate court hearing for a Possession Order to his home in Elie, Manitoba. Then in 2011, despite being No. 1 on the list, when he returned from three years
in B.C., of his own accord, this life-time resident was denied a room and had to take up residency in a high rise, out-of-the-way, on Osborne Street, in an area unsafe for any senior, of which Lionel Bouchard complained about the unsavory characters, until he relocated to the Portage Avenue Country Club complex! Keep in mind at this time, his
sister Peggy Keough was in charge of his well-being, and had refused to pass on a message from his lawyer Winston Smith to his client Lionel Bouchard. but enabled a breach whereby Andy Bouchard, Claire Demery, Lynda Staub coerced their father to remove the three protection orders in Lionel's favor, had him waive his monetary claim
from his son Andy but more importantly - his Life Estate in the humble little two-bedroom rancher in Elie which Lionel had designed to live out he rest of his days, on the land he planted over 22,000 trees over his life span and a garden, and flowers he so enjoyed.
This brings to mind the fact that there was not one flower in the church at his funeral....nor any of the trimmings which come with any funeral!!!

Laurette Dufresne, a long-time friend of Jeannette Van Steelant (Bouchard), and resident of the Cartier Manor in Elie, as were Ralph & Anita Légaré - former in-laws, demanded that Marlene Légaré vacate her Aunt Yvette Houde's room which she had access for two nights. Marlene has been called by her brother, first time ever while in B.C., informing her that he was about to commit their father whereby she put her life on hold and boarded the next available flight from B.C. to investigate for herself. What she discovered was that her father was in the early stages of recovery from a concussion.
Her Uncle Laurent Houde had invited her to stay in his former wife's room as she was on a cruise. However, Laurette stated that "she did not want any trouble with Andy (Bouchard)" and that Marlene had to leave immediately.
As this is a small community, the residents in town were well aware of Lionel Bouchard's near-death experience after a slip and fall on ice at a friend's funeral in St. Eustache weeks prior and that he had been discharged from the hospital.
In ensuing trips to attend court, lawyers, land titles offices, Uncle Laurent Houde provided a refuge on his couch for his niece for a couple nights at the St. Eustache Manor while other residents reeled in horror at the way Andy, his wife Angie, his two sisters Claire Demery of Teulon, and Lynda Staub of Rosser had tossed their father out of his home, this after destroying all his personal papers and belongings while he lay recuperating in the Grace Hospital.
Andy had already informed everyone that he was NOT allowing his father back in home, DENYING THE EXISTENCE OF A LIFE ESTATE AGREEMENT entered into with his father Lionel Bouchard years prior at a time when Andy Bouchard had ANGRILY forced his father to sell the second half of the Bouchard Homestead (witnessed by a close friend).
