Lionel Bouchard escorted out of the province by two private investigators in August 2008 by his lawyer Winston Smith, of Hook & Smith after Lionel's movements were severely restricted just prior to returning to court to get a possession order for his home and out of concern for Lionel Bouchard's safety. Lionel was driven to the Regina Airport as what was feared occurred in that Andy Bouchard & Mike Slegers tried to charge Winston Smith with "abducting Lionel Bouchard" - similar to the charge Andy Bouchard laid against his sister of B.C. of "attempted kidnap of her very own mother to take her back to a cancer clinic they both had gone to in 2005". Sister was made to await trials of this and other charges from Lynda Staub in Winnipeg Remand citing in part "a flight risk" for nearly four months only to have the charges stayed.
In June 2006, Andy Bouchard and Lynda Staub had the bail variedto disallow "physical contact in Manitoba only", with Jeannette Van Steelant, mother, was suffering from cancer and had mother heavily medicated on morphine and not lucid sign an affidavit to that effect, which in her right mind she would never have consented to. According to the order, other contact was allowed - though calls and mail were intercepted anyways to prevent contact! Of particular interest is that there was an "attemptedbreak-in" into Winston Smith's legal office, the first ever, just prior to the court hearing over the life estate! (Click here.)
